Flint Hills Technical College
Students at Emporia High School who have reached junior status have the opportunity to attend Flint Hills Technical College (FHTC). FHTC is tuition free to Emporia High students and provides them the opportunity to study a large variety of technology related fields. Talk to your counselor about this opportunity.
EHS also offers an opportunity to students to receive retroactive credit for English, math and/or science through the completion of one of the FHTC programs indicated on the EHS / FHTC Retroactive Credit Agreement.
For students to earn credits for the completion of one of these programs:
- Student enrolls in Flint Hills Tech program
- Student, parent, principal and counselor sign the EHS/FHTC Retroactive Credit Agreement
- Copies are given to the student/parent, counselor, Ms. Bloomquist and registrar (for the student’s cumulative folder)
- It is up to the student and/or counselor to monitor the completion of the program in order to ensure credits are earned.
- Following FHTC graduation in early May, the registrar will contact FHTC for a list of students who have completed their program of study.
- If the program is completed - The student will receive the agreed upon credit in English, math and/or science that the agreement stipulates. The registrar will enter the credits and grades into PowerSchool.
- If the program is not completed - The student will NOT receive any dual credit regardless of which classes were completed as the agreement stipulates.
